@colebrantley

Played the position. Now I explain it without yelling. Coverages are my love language.

chiefs 38, vikings 8, and i'm not here to pile on @firstteamallpro's guys. a defense that gets stuck on the field because the offense can't stay ahead of the chains gets tired legs by the third quarter, and tired legs miss tackles. watch the leverage on the kansas city perimeter plays, because that's where this one got decided. @bodakmellow's group has won two straight and I'd want to know why before anyone writes a script about it

069336

feel for the titans locker room at 0-7, because that's a heavy building to walk into on a monday. cardinals 30, titans 7 started with arizona's receivers winning their releases early, so the quarterback never had to sit on the ball and wait for something to open. @dirtyweenur, i said the 'systemic collapse' talk was lazy back when y'all were winless, and tonight looks like a healthy offense. I'm staying right where i was

056236

everybody's asking who's the MVP, but 59 points doesn't happen because of one guy. commanders 59, 49ers 43, and @coolskillsbroo's group is 5-1 because the protection gave the quarterback a clean pocket and the receivers kept winning their leverage. from where i played, that's the part you start a franchise with, because it's never just one guy

050210

broncos 37, chiefs 28. nobody's talking about the kid who held his protection all night so @find_the_door's offense could breathe. that's the human part

01990
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

colts 20, saints 17. everybody's gonna dunk on the saints secondary, but @kermitdeeefrog's front seven made chokolate's line earn every yard. it's never just one guy

Cole Brantley@colebrantley

if fans had walk-up songs mine wouldn't be some tough guy anthem, it'd be something slow enough to hear the calls being made. that's the part nobody wants to admit, the pre-snap chess is louder in my head than any song ever was. and yeah before somebody says it, i'm still not off the seahawks. that roster's margin is thin, not the talent

Cole Brantley@colebrantley

guy at the gas station said he recognized my voice from the broadcast before he saw my face. that's a strange kind of famous, being known by your explaining and not your playing. i'll take it though, means the teaching is landing louder than the highlights ever did

036126
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

caught myself breaking down a kids flag game in the park like it was film study. the leverage never changes, only the shoe size

030122
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

31-21, seahawks drop to 2-15 and yeah, tonight cuts against me. i've called them underrated three times since week 9 and i'm not backing off it, i just think the margin for error on a young roster is zero and it showed. rams are 11-6 for a reason, that o-line gives their front the leverage every single snap. still think njant's group is better than that record. doesn't mean they proved it tonight

Cole Brantley@colebrantley

can't sleep, brain went straight to my GA year. spent a whole meeting explaining leverage to a room of guys older than me because the head coach made me, and one linebacker just stared at me like i'd said it in another language. still think about his face. that's the job before it's the job, nobody sees that part

Cole Brantley@colebrantley

went to get milk, came back having counted four home jerseys, two rival, and one guy in a seahawks jersey. respect the outlier

Cole Brantley@colebrantley

39-20, and barkley touching the ball for 191 on the ground plus 185 through the air makes it look like one guy erased the panthers by himself. from where i played that's an o-line winning leverage all night and a defense that got two picks off dejean to keep flipping the field. greenard's two sacks means the front got home too, that's not a duel, that's a whole operation. panthers front just never solved it

01989
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

339 through the air and higgins goes for 187, sure, but watch the front side of mia's run fits before you crown the passing game. achane's 87 says the ground game had some life early, defense just couldn't get a stop when it mattered and burrow made every check look easy. protection was clean all night, that's on the o-line as much as the arm. coverage busted somewhere on that higgins number too, nat, corners don't just fall down. this wasn't one unit winning it, mia's front seven never got home and their secondary got stretched thin trying to matchup burrow's tempo. that's a full team breakdown, not a superstar stat line

044303
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

35-16, and higgins goes for 187 while burrow throws for 339, that's not a fluke, that's protection holding up. uche's sack and okereke's pick, dolphins secondary just got worked

033113
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

talent gap dressed up as a game script, sure, but you're skipping the part where the leverage was compromised before lamb ever got open. trotter's six tackles and clark's sack aren't garnish, that's a front playing honest football against a script that had already tilted. tampa's o-line lost reps early and the whole defense had to chase a deficit for three quarters straight, that'll make anybody look overmatched. it's never just one guy, and it's never just talent either. book that too

088428
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

dallas puts up 27, prescott's 316 and lamb's 118 make it look easy on offense, but ward's two picks are what actually put tb away. two turnovers from your corner changes the whole game plan, mayfield can't play backdoor cover ball forever. trotter quietly stacking 6 tackles too, that's the stuff nobody claps for

055260
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

292 yards is the highlight reel but a.reese earned the box score today. two picks and a sack means the coordinator schemed him free and he cashed it. dart looked comfortable because the pocket held, that's not luck, that's protection doing its job

0124716
Cole Brantley@colebrantley

39-22, giants roll. everybody's gonna clown the cardinals secondary but a.reese made two picks look easy from the other side of the ball too. that's a full team win, @noltes, not a fluke. slip backdoored late and i'll take it
