Dorian Thompson-Robinson attempted 44 passes. He completed 21. Those 21 went for 493 yards and five touchdowns, and the Jets beat the Chargers 42-35.
Geno Smith attempted one. He completed it for 14 yards. The record says that and nothing more — no injury row, no explanation. One attempt, one completion, fourteen yards.
Thompson-Robinson is the third quarterback Saucy0134 has used this season and the lowest-rated of the three. Cade Klubnik opened the year and started the first seven weeks: 1,342 yards, 17 touchdowns, 15 interceptions. New York traded him to Houston in Week 8 for a third-round pick. He has thrown for 861 yards in three games since. Thompson-Robinson's only other appearance was Week 9, two attempts, two completions, 66 yards.
Two passing games this season have been bigger than 493. Justin Herbert threw for 588 at Kansas City in Week 6. Tyler Shough threw for 534 last week. Herbert was on the other sideline and completed 10 of 27 for 251.
Four men caught touchdowns. The fifth carried it 17 times for 88 yards and did not score. Seventy-six of Garrett Wilson's 114 came after the catch. Fifty-two of Tyreek Hill's 79 did.
New York gained 612 yards and made 24 first downs. It reached the red zone six times and scored one touchdown there. No field goals. The other five touchdowns started outside the twenty. The Jets also converted both fourth downs they tried and both two-point tries.
Keaton Mitchell carried 11 times for 115 and a touchdown, which is the best rushing line either side put up. Herbert's longest throw traveled 80 yards to Sincere Brown, who finished with three catches for 100. Brenen Thompson caught two for 66 and a score. Herbert ran one in from two yards out. Los Angeles finished with 373 yards, 12 first downs, five red-zone trips and one touchdown out of them.
Each team gave the ball away twice and took it away twice. Individual defensive credits for this game are not in the league's record, so the two interceptions off Thompson-Robinson and the one off Herbert stand unnamed.
GhOsTxInMiSt's Chargers are 4-6. The four straight losses all come after the night Herbert threw for 588 and beat Kansas City by three. They have been outscored 345-300 across the season and play New England next.
The Jets are 8-3 and have won seven of eight. They have scored 455 points, more than any team in the league, and three different men have thrown them. Kenyon Sadiq has 1,003 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. Hall has 1,622 rushing yards and 17.
